Adjustments
The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as “spinal manipulation,” also called “chiropractic adjustment.” The doctor using his hands will evaluate the biomechanics and motions of the joints of the patient's complaints. The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury.

Soft Tissue Work

First when using acupressure and soft tissue the provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and mobility of the soft tissue. Using hand pressure, the practitioner works to remove or break up the fibrous adhesions. Acupressure and Soft tissue treatment is most commonly used to treat conditions related to adhesions or scar tissue in overused muscles. As adhesions build up, muscles become shorter and weaker, the motion of muscles and joints are altered, and nerves can be compressed. As a result, tissues suffer from decreased blood supply, pain, and poor mobility. The goal of treatment is to restore the smooth movement of tissues and to release any trapped nerves or blood vessels.

Kinesio Tape
Kinesio Taping is based on a philosophy that aims to give free range of motion in order to allow the body's muscular system to heal itself bio-mechanically. To ensure that the muscles have free range of motion, tape with an elasticity of 130-140% of its original length is used for Kinesio Taping. This specific elasticity also will not allow an over stretch of the muscles themselves. It may look like conventional athletic tape, but Kinesio Tape is fundamentally different.

Gua Sha / Graston Technique

This is a therapeutic method for diagnosing and treating disorders of the skeletal muscles and related connective tissue that builds of scar tissue. Scar tissue limits range of motion, and in many instances causes pain, which prevents the patient from functioning as he or she did before the injury. The method employs a collection of stainless steel tools of particular shape and size, which are used by practitioners to palpate patients' bodies in order to detect and resolve adhesions in the muscles, fascia, and tendons.
